Linux Engineer (Kuala Lumpur)

We are a European based multinational company providing mobile and software hosting solutions. We are planning to expand our operations in Kuala Lumpur, and are looking for suitable individuals to fill the following position; Linux Engineer.

Responsibilities:

• Review logs on a daily basis
• Manage server and client OS patching procedure
• Manage updates and upgrades of other applications
• Evaluate and review patches, before and after installation
• Installing new hardware, network equipment and software
• Daily administration tasks such as;
  
  • Increasing disk space, CPU and memory
  • Manage Networks, e.g. load balancer, changing IP addresses, patching switches etc.
• Extract data for monthly reports per customer; servers, memory, configurations, disk volumes
• Perform troubleshooting to solve customer’s hardware and software related problems
• Diagnose problems, with continuous follow up in order to meet customer’s Service Level Agreement within certain time frame.
• Communicate with European customers, log and report all performed activities
• Improve customer support by producing documentation and processes for installing hardware/software and solving operation problems
• Emergency service (backline)
• In time manage server environments in Asia

Requirements:

• At least 2 years working experience of installation and operation of servers, operating systems, software and backup solutions.
• Documented knowledge/certification for VMware 3.5/4.0/4,1.
• Documented knowledge/certification of Ubuntu and Redhat
• Additional knowledge in MySQL, Apache and Tomcat is an advantage
• Knowledge of server, hardware and equipment such as IBM servers, Dell servers, Compellent, HP Switches, Qlogic SAN Switches, Sata Beast Disk System, IBM SAN, and Fortigate Firewalls is an advantage
• Experience of working in virtual environments.
• Ability to independently solve and troubleshoot problems via phone or remote access.
• Good English, written and spoken skills is an important requirement
• Self-motivated, customer oriented and a team player
